Mia Goldstein is a Tel Aviv based photographer and yoga teacher.  Prior to earning her BFA in Art and Photography from the School of Visual Arts, New York (1993) she trained in Jerusalem at the Musrara School of Photography and the Hadassah College of Technology.

Mia holds a degree in Senior Yoga Teacher Training from the Wingate Institute, Israel and has also undergone training in craniosacral therapy methods.

The images were first inspired while snorkeling in the Red Sea.  Looking down into the deep while the rest of my body floats on the surface, my senses turn inward and my mind is quieted, while my body awakens to the sensation of the water.  The duality of this experience creates a feeling of deep serenity and wholeness.

For many years my existential experience was of living inside myself, as in a cocoon. Through my art I have explored ways of pushing out from this safe and alienating space. Through mirrored reflections in the photographic images, the body is re-creating new forms and identities from within itself, from within the soul.

The holistic approach of Gestalt dream interpretation has inspired me to give birth to these unique images. The images are created through a special technique that I have developed during the photographic process, which results in reflections.
